MuslimChannels.tv, the family oriented alternative to
YouTube and MySpace, integrating live broadcast and video uploads
(July 4th,
2008, Temecula, California) While cable and dish services are swamped with
religious channels, Muslims in the United States have unequal
opportunities for access. This is not due to any economical, content quality,
or viewership concerns, but rather because of the politics of fear and media
monopoly. MuslimChannels addresses this
challenge with a unique approach, by offering the best of both worlds: Multiple
live 24 x 7 broadcasts of religious, alternative news, and educational
programming, as well as user video uploads, video sharing and formation of
online communities.
MuslimChannels believes the time has come to break the large corporate media
monopoly by featuring several alternative news broadcasts and shows such as Al
Jazeera English, LinkTV, Press TV, and DemocracyNow. Religious programming will initially include
two 24 x 7 live channels, featuring Huda TV and IslamChannels.
While the site is opening today with several hundred videos featuring films,
documentaries, and educational content, many scholars are expected to upload libraries
of valuable material over the next days and weeks. "We are optimistic many of our scholars and Imams
from the 1000+ Islamic centers across the country, and our user base, will add
tens of thousands of pieces of useful content", said Stephanie Khan,
Communication Director of Muslim Channels.
Mrs. Khan expressed her excitement that no "sexual" content or "Hate"
videos will be permitted, "finally combining education, clean entertainment,
and broader news perspectives, all in one place."
The organization will offer business users, regardless of their faith, a chance
to expand their business, and cut down on expenses during these difficult
times. "It is our way to give back to
our communities and neighborhoods while developing friendships", said Mrs. Khan. Because the organization is non-profit, with a
focus on building bridges and promoting peace and cooperation, users will have
the ability to place FREE video ads, promoting their businesses and services, and
use a special site feature to deliver their video ads to a potentially
unlimited number of local customers by a simple "One Click".
