- Facing a dual crisis of adapting and surviving in a plural society while
developing one's Islamic personality.
- Misconstruing ethnic culture for Islam is both misleading and divisive
- Negative and often misleading portrayal of Islam in the media has become a
major obstacle to the formation of cohesive Islamic identity and has had a
deteriorating impact specifically on nascent Muslim communities which are
becoming recast into a new set of identities with a decreasing emphasis on
Islamic values
Family

- Family is the building block of society; as a cohesive unit it is able to
synergistically interact with other units thus contributing to a harmonious
society
- Family is a cradle for human development
- Family provides the breeding ground for virtues like kindness, sense of
belonging and mutual love
- Family is a refuge; first line of defense and last line of protection
- Family provides the avenue for perpetuation of life, of values and
traditions
- Healthy family life depends on goodwill of all concerned; on being
exemplary, fulfilling responsibilities and interacting on the basis of respect
and compassion

- Essence of family life emanates from love and mercy - muwaddah wa
rahmah
- In a plural society no instrument of da'wah that can convey Islam
as well as the living example of an exemplary Islamic family
